Inadequacy

Hey Good People,

I have a confession. I sat down to write something completely different from the topic in this blog title. Then I stuck in the middle of writing and started to get overwhelmed by the feeling of not being enough and from there I felt a strong push to write about this.

Here comes the transparency, the feeling of inadequacy is not new to me. I have often felt as if I was lacking the ability to fulfill a certain purpose in different seasons of my life. As of late, I have felt inadequate in fulfilling my purpose on my job, fulfilling my purpose as a wife, and even trying to fulfill the purpose in producing the encouraging and transparent content for this blog that I know was an idea given to me by God.

Feeling inadequate can come from many different areas of our life. Social media, family, the holiday season, television and even our own inner thoughts are all factors that can contribute to feeling inadequate. I know for many of us, the examples I mentioned are constant in our everyday lives and possibly unavoidable at times. However, when these things become a focal point the feeling of not being enough can easily overwhelm us. Which can lead to comparison, self-doubt, self-hate, envy, jealousy and even depression.

Here’s the thing, when we succumb to the feeling of inadequacy we are essentially telling God; “I know you think I can handle this but I can’t. You can take it back.” How does that look when God knows us better than we know ourselves? He knows what we can handle. He knows why He has us in this place. He knows why He has given us this task to execute.

We may not completely understand and that is where fear may creep in but we have to trust Him. Even when we don’t feel like we are capable to master the task at hand, we have to be content in the fact that God knows exactly what He has us up against and He will help us to get through. In Him, we are enough.

Be encouraged in this: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”- Jeremiah 29:11 ESV.

I want you to really think about that verse.

The feeling of inadequacy doesn’t stand a chance to what God already has planned for our lives. If you are currently feeling inadequate, two words, God knows! He not only knows but He has already given you everything that you need in order to fulfill the task/purpose/assignment (whatever you want to call it) at hand. You have all you need because God is with you.

To risk sounding redundant; Sis… Bro… God knows! He’s with you! Your feelings of inadequacy can’t stand up to our all-knowing God. Be content in knowing that His plans are purposeful and cannot fail.

In Christ, you are enough. Inadequacy is dismantled in Jesus’ name. You are enough!

Your portion has purpose.

With Love,

Tam
