My Portion Has Purpose... And So Does Yours!

Hey Good People!

Back in 2014 I said this phrase for the first time and I literally felt the presence of God shower me as if He Himself was telling me that this was His specific word to me and for me in this season. Never, did I think that this season would continue for four more years… but I often repeat this phrase and get comfort in it every single time.

Now, I share this phrase with you! Your portion has PURPOSE! In this new age of all things social media, I strongly believe that I am not the only one who struggles with the reality of “what I have is not enough”. Come on, I know for a fact that I am not alone! All day long we scroll through the social media outlets of our choice, my favorite is Instagram (the photographer in me loves the world of Insta), and admire everyone’s highlight reels of their seemingly perfect life.

The constant barrage of “I’m engaged!”, “I’m getting married!”, “I bought a house!”,“We’re pregnant!”, “I got a new job!”, (and the list can literally go on) can make anyone think that what they don’t have is far more greater than what they have already been graced with! Anybody feel me on that?! Think about it, how much more content would we be if we spent half of the amount of time on social? Fact of the matter is, social media will be around for a long time. So, that means we have to be diligent to have the proper perspective about what we see. Jeremiah 29:11 says: For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. CSB version

This tells me that regardless of what I currently have or don’t have in front of me, God has a specific purpose for my life and it ain’t bad! (I know that’s not proper English or good grammar but I need you to feel me on that!) God wants us to win! He’s with us and He’s for us! Regardless of what social media may make you think… God has placed you exactly where He wants you to be, given you exactly what He wants you have, and has an amazing plan for your life!

We’re going to talk about comparison and how it can have you all kinds of jacked up in depth in future blogs. For now, think on this… just like you’re looking at your portion then at someone else’s and wishing you had what they have; someone is on the other side looking at what you have and doing the exact same thing! Take pride and be content in knowing that that God loves you and your current portion right now is going to play a major part in fulfilling your overall purpose in life. Cherish it. Be grateful for it. Show joy while living in it.
